4 Bears, 3 Huskies on all-city team

Four members of the 2011 sectional champion Central Bears have been named to the Downtown Quarterback Club all city team, while three North Huskie made the squad.  Central placed three members on the club's offensive unit.

Central has tough foe in Columbus East

Central will travel to Columbus Friday night for its regional game against Columbus East and the Bears will have to play extremely well to have a chance to win. 

The 7-5 Bears are coming off a 23-14 win over Jasper last week, capturing their first sectional championship since 1988.  Their opponent is used to playing deep into November.

North's Caleb Kerr named state High School Heisman finalist

As the competition narrows for the 2011 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award program, 20 of Indiana’s top scholar-athletes were announced today as State Finalists for the prestigious award. These finalists are now in the running to become State Winners, the next phase of the program as applicants advance to become National Winners.

North High's Caleb Kerr is among the state finalists.

Fresh from a thrilling 37-35 win over Reitz last Friday night, the Central Bears will host Jasper this week for the Class 4A Sectional championship.

The two teams have a history--but haven't met all that frequently in recent years.

Reitz-Central in rematch of September thriller

The weather will be cooler, but expect a hot contest when Reitz and Central square off for the first time since an overtime thriller.  The two Class 4-A schools meet in the second round of the IHSAA playoffs Friday night at Central.
