Classic Iron Show makes 2013 return to 4-H Center this weekend

The Classic Iron Show, presented by the Southern Indiana’s Antique and Machinery Club, will be at the 4-H Center this weekend, June 7-9.  They will be featuring Massey Ferguson, Massey Harris, Nelson-Built Engines, and Lawn and Garden Tractors.

Classic Iron show will also have a Lawn and Garden Tractor Extravaganza.

Other activities include a Giant Flea Market, Toy show, live music on Saturday, working demonstrations, antique tractors and more.

700 expected for clean up, world record Zumba attempt

 

More than 700 youth and adults have volunteered for Global Youth Service Day 2013. The event will be held Saturday rain or shine starting with a Clean Evansville trash pick-up from 9 to 11 a.m.  At  1:30 p.m., an attempt will be made to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest youth Zumba class

Twenty-four Clean Evansville teams will target areas around Garvin Park/Bosse Field, Jacobsville, Downtown, Glenwood Neighborhood and McGary Middle School. Clean Evansville volunteers are advised to dress for the weather.

Workshop Saturday for Jacobsville planning

 

Jacobsville residents and stakeholders will gather Saturday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m., at Delaware Elementary School to develop a shared local vision for the Jacobsville neighborhood.

The visioning workshop is facilitated by Jacobsville Join In, the organization working to develop the Jacobsville Quality of Life Plan funded by the City of Evansville.  The Indiana Association for Community Economic Development (IACED) in association with Jim Capraro, Senior Fellow for the Institute for Comprehensive Community Development will lead the workshop on Saturday.

Easter egg hunt planned at St. John

St. John United Methodist Church will have an Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 30 from noon until 2 p.m.

Refreshments for youth and parents will be served after the hunt.  

Kids who participate in the Easter egg hunt and attend the 10 a.m. service at the church on Sunday with their parents will be given an Easter prize after church.

Clean Evansville anti-litter campaign targets Stringtown Road corridor

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Clean Evansville volunteers will target the City’s North Side on Groundhog Day this Saturday, February 2, from 9 to 11 a.m. Six clean teams will be picking up litter along the Stringtown Road corridor north of Diamond Avenue, including neighborhoods near Evans School.

Team 1, led by Mayor Winnecke, will start near Diamond Avenue and Heidelbach Road. Team 2 will start at Heidelbach and Parkland Avenue; Team 3 at Stringtown and Diamond; Team 4 at Olmstead Road and Kentucky Avenue; Team 5 at Evans and Joan Avenue; and Team 6 at Evans and Stanley Avenue.

Fantasy of Lights 'Walk Through Night' raises record amount

Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center announced today that the Dec. 3 walk-through night at Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights raised more than $8,890, setting a new event record. More than 1,650 people showed up to Evansville’s Garvin Park to stroll through the lighted displays on an unseasonably warm evening.

This was the first time since 2005 that Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights was closed to cars and carriage rides for a walk-through night.
