Both Evansville mayoral candidates are among candidates for public office planning to attend Central High School’s annual Candidates Day on Friday, Oct. 21. The program, which is open to the public, will begin at 9:15 a.m. in Central’s Auditorium and conclude at 10:40 a.m. Candidates Day allows political candidates to state their viewpoints on a number of subjects. The event is free and open to the public.

Candidates for the mayor’s office, city clerk, council at large, and council ward 5, which affects Central attendance district, were invited to participate in the program.

Evansville and Vanderburgh discuss consolidation

The Evansville City Council and Vanderburgh County Commissioners met in joint session again Thursday to move forward the city-county consolidation plan.

Thursday night, both departments talked about who should have jurisdiction over North High School and the airport.

There was also a study on how the merger will impact taxpayers. One study showed a savings of three to seven percent while another showed an increase in tax rates.

Critics say the studies have too many assumptions in them.

Third Ward caucus votes Alan Leibrunguth in as candidate

Tuesday night at the Ward  3 Republican Precinct Committeemen/Committeewomen Caucus, Alan Leibrunguth was unanimously voted in as the  3rd Ward City Council Candidate.

Leibrunguth is a Harrison High and UE graduate.  He'll face Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley in the election, which is set for November 8.
