North side voting locations busy

More than 1,300 people had cast ballots at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday according to Vanderburgh County Clerk Susan Kirk.

Figures released by her office also show Cavalry Church on First Avenue was a popular choice among morning voters. More than 1,000 had cast ballots there.

Voting continues until 6 p.m.  Below is a list of total voters at the various locations throughout the city.

If you thought early voting meant 'no line', think again.  The above picture shows cars looking for parking spaces outside North Park Library around 3 p.m. Friday, two hours before early voting was set to wrap up.

A woman leaving the branch near Central High School indicated the wait was about an hour.

You can still cast an early ballot before Tuesday's election.

Talk jobs, I-69 and more with State Rep. Riecken Sept. 29

Gail Riecken, State Representative, District 77, will hold 4 Town Hall Meetings in Evansville to discuss Jobs, I 69 and the Ohio River.   One of those meetings takes place Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10-11:30 a.m. at John’s United Methodist Church (1900 N. Fulton Ave).

These meetings are public and attendees will be provided an opportunity for comments or questions about state government.

Voters interested in casting their ballot early for the upcoming primary election can do so at the North Park Library or the Oaklyn branch Monday-Thursday from April 30 to May 3.  You can vote between the hours of noon and 6 p.m.

The election takes place May 8.

The first of three Meet Your Legislators sessions will take place this Saturday in Central Library's Browning Events Room at 9:15 am.

At Meet Your Legislators, local state legislators will be available to answer questions from the public involving state bills and issues.

Meet Your Legislators will be held on the following Saturdays during this legislative session:

Democrats celebrate City Council sweep

Democratic city council candidates in Evansville have plenty of reasons to wake up happy Tuesday morning. They were able to sweep all of their contested races in the election.

The Le Merigot Hotel in Downtown Evansville saw a lot of happy people Tuesday night, celebrating a Democratic sweep for all seven council seats that were on the ballot.

Among those winners were three incumbents. Missy Mosby in the 2nd ward, John Friend in the 5th ward and Dan H. Adams, an at-large candidate, all won re-election.
