VHS to perform 25,000th spay/neuter

VHS to perform 25,000th spay/neuter

The VHS Low Cost Spay/ Neuter Clinic will reach a  milestone on Friday, December 2.  The clinic will be performing its 25,000th spay/neuter.

The low cost clinic welcomed its first patients on July 30th, 2007, and the response has been enormous.  Averaging between 30-35 surgeries each day, the clinic is now booking in to 2012.  5,000 animals have been altered since February 2011, when they performed their 20,000th surgery.

Numerous lives have since been saved, thanks to responsible owners electing to have this one time, low risk surgery performed on their pet. The VHS says it is extremely grateful to all of those pet owners who have joined them in fighting the battle of pet overpopulation. The VHS has seen a small decrease in the amount of surrendered animals and a year-end analysis will allow us to calculate just how much of an impact the clinic is making.

Humane Society's "Black Friday" specials

Humane Society's "Black Friday" specials

by Sydney Long, Vanderburgh Co. Humane Society

The Friday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Let us not forget that there are so many wonderful animals at the VHS waiting to find their loving, forever homes. Many of which, just happen to be Black Dogs & Cats. In honor of “Black Friday”, the VHS will be kicking off the holiday season with our very own “Black Friday” Special.

In hopes that many of our wonderful “Black Pearls” as we affectionately call them, find families to spend their holiday season and beyond with; the VHS will be reducing the adoption fee for Black Dogs & Cats this weekend.
