Long-time Highland cafeteria manager honored by EVSC | People
Louise Kroeger, cafeteria manager at Highland Elementary School, is the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation’s December Cause for Applause recipient.
Kroeger, an 18.5 year employee of the Office of Food Service and Nutrition at EVSC, has been at Highland Elementary since 2005.
She was nominated by Sheri Moore, a former employee of Highland now secretary at West Terrace, who said that although she no longer works at Highland, she was always impressed by Kroeger’s work ethic, kindness, and compassion to her fellow employees and students. “I used to work with Louise, and before you would even ask her to do something, it would be done for you,” she said.
Moore said that Kroeger always went above and beyond her normal duties to help the office out. “But what impressed me most about Louise, besides her cheerful attitude with everything she did, is that she collected cans, crushed them and recycled them. With the money that she received from that she would pay off debts that children would incur in the cafeteria when they could not pay for their meals…I don’t even think that the families were aware that she was doing this out of the kindness of her heart.”
EVSC Cause for Applause began in November and Kroeger is its second recipient. Anyone can nominate an employee of the EVSC for the award. Deadline for nominations is the third Friday of each month.
