A Vanderburgh County home was damaged in a fire late Monday night.
We’re told thefire broke out around 11 p.m. on Edinborough Road, between US 41 and Petersburg Road.
Fire officials say the family thought the fire in their fireplace was out but they were awakened by a fire alarm and saw flames coming out of the back wall of their home.
Firefighters say the fire spread up the chimney and into the attic. Fire officials say the back of the home was badly damaged from both smoke and water.
