New Subway location treats customers to free sandwiches

The line to get into the new Evansville Subway location on Tuesday evening.

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)-

A new Subway opening along Highway 41 and Morgan Avenue in Evansville treated dozens of customers to a free sandwich Tuesday evening. 
     
It was their way of welcoming folks to the new location and a huge crowd turned out.
"It's been moving pretty fast. Everybody's pretty nice in line here. It's been pretty enjoyable," said Robert Bass, who was there getting a free sandwich.

Odor leads officers to meth lab and an arrest

EVANSVILLE (WFIE)- Police have discovered a meth lab at a house in the Jacobsville area of Evansville.

Officers were called to the scene at 302 East Tennessee around 11:00 Monday night. That's after receiving complaints of an odor in the neighborhood.

Investigators say they found a small meth lab inside and dismantled it. Police say they also found meth making ingredients inside the home.

42-year-old Jay Wayne Hayes was taken into custody, and charged with Dealing Methamphetamine (Manufacturing).

Monster trucks gearing up for big weekend show at Vanderburgh County 4 H Center

VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE)- Monster trucks are gearing up and making their way toward the Vanderburgh County 4 H Center where the first show of the weekend will kick off tonight.

You'll see Quadzilla, the monster truck that was made right here in Evansville, and 6 more behemoths. Each weighs about 10,000 pounds and stands 12 feet high.

Another big draw is the freestyle motocross drivers who will be doing some gravity defying stunts.

We got a sneak peak at some of their them Friday morning.

Deputies: SUV ran stop light, causes wreck on Hwy 41

VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE)- An accident in Vanderburgh County on U.S. 41 sends three to the hospital.

The Vanderbugh County Sheriff's Office says an SUV heading north on U.S. 41 was turning west onto Mt. Pleasant Road, disregarded a stop light and was struck by another car.

Three people were injured as a result of the accident, and they were taken to St. Mary's Hospital. No word on how bad the injuries occurred are.

Tri-State organizations team up to tackle area health concerns

TRI-STATE (WFIE)- Deaconess, St. Mary's and three other community organizations have come together and formed an action plan to tackle the four biggest health issues in Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties.

It was brought on by the results of a study that were released just today. 

The hospitals were federally mandated to complete a Community Health Needs Assessment.

They gathered data by studying focus groups made up of 51 businesses, community and social service leaders, as well as conducted 500 telephone interviews.

Car attempting to avoid accident causes another car to wreck into porch

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- A woman says "it felt like an earthquake" when a car hit the front of her house Thursday morning, on Evansville's North Side.

The driver of a black Mercedes, swerved to avoid another car that made a sudden move, to avoid a previous accident at the intersection, of First and Colorado.

The Mercedes driver, jumped the curb and ended up, running into the front porch at 2703 First Avenue.

A woman and a young girl were unharmed, inside the house and witnesses say, the driver of the Mercedes didn't appear to be injured.

Have you spotted the 'Cashdales' around Evansville?

If you were driving on Diamond Avenue in Evansville Tueday afternoon, you might have seen this guy.

He was in front of Check Into Cash and he's part of the store's "Cashdales," a team of Clydesdales touring local stores.

Folks gathered to take photos with the enormous equine and to get up close and personal.

The Cashdales team is expected to visit the Burkhardt Road store on Wednesday and the west Lloyd Expressway store on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
