North Main Christmas Parade launches new era

Heading down to the Christmas parade this weekend?  It'll be taking a new route. The parade is now being run by the North Main Merchants and North Side Kiwanis Club and is called the North Main Christmas Parade.

It'll leave the Civic Center area and head north on North Main Street around 3 p.m. then turn east on Columbia and south on Heidelbach before heading back to the Civic Center.

St. Vincent Center for Children and Families will host the 4th annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 1.

The event will be held at St. Vincent Center for Children and Families, located at 730 W. Delaware Street, Evansville.

The event is free and open to the community. Guests must pre-register for this event and may do so by calling St. Vincent’s at 812-424-4780.

No, it can’t be! Are there really only eight Fridays left before the holiday season? How many paydays is that for you? That’s right folks. Pretty soon you will be seeing the holiday displays going up in the retail stores and will be lamenting that it is too soon. “It seems we just get through summer and back to school and we are quickly reminded that the holidays are fast approaching,” states Jana Castanon, spokesperson for Apprisen. “But, use this as an incentive to start thinking about how you are going to handle the upcoming expenses associated with this time of year.”

How to receive Christmas assistance from the Salvation Army

Families and residents from Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties who will be unable to provide their immediate family a Christmas dinner and toys for their children may sign up for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance in person.

Applications Will Be Taken At The Salvation Army, 1040 North Fulton Avenue from October 22, 2012—November 2 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Evening applications will be taken only on October 25 and November 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Centenary Autumn 'Feastival' set for September 22

Centenary United Methodist Church will present their annual Centenary Autumn Feastival on Saturday, September 22 from 11 AM-8 PM.  This fun, family oriented, community event features live entertainment, a country store, a field of inflatable adventures, and carnival games and prizes.  A large variety of home cooked favorites and carnival foods will be available for indoor dining or outside under the tents.

Other family friendly activities include Old MacDonald’s Petting Zoo, tractor rides, and more. For $2, kids can enter the Kids Pedal Tractor Pull at noon. For a $5 entry fee, attendees can enter a corn-hole tournament, with registration beginning at 2:30.  Trophies and gift cards will be awarded to tournament winners.
