Anime convention coming to Holiday Inn | Events

 Evansville’s only Japanese anime convention, EvilleCon, will take place Friday, March 30-Sunday, April 1.  EvilleCon 2012 has events, panels, guests, and more at the Holiday Inn Evansville Airport.  Show hours are from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. on March 30; 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. on March 31 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to April 1.

There will be plenty to do at EvilleCon including:

• Main events such as:
  • An American Red Cross Blood Drive
  • Cosplay Chess – A game where costumed convention attendees act out a giant game of chess
  • Cosplay Contest – A competition to show who has the best costume at EvilleCon 2012
  • EvilleCon’s Got Talent – A talent competition showcasing the convention attendees and their singing/acting/dancing/etc. abilities
  • Performances by Evansville Tribal Dance, EvilleCon 2011’s Anime Idol Keeley Rather, and MC and rapper Lil iFFy.
  • A Japanese sword demonstration.
  • A Shotokan martial arts demonstration.
• Panels such as:
  • Ani-Jeopardy – a Jeopardy like game with anime answers.
  • Voice Actor Dueling – convention attendees get to dub over famous anime clips.
  • Name that Anime – a game where convention attendees identify characters, theme songs, and clips from different anime.
  • Cosplay Tips for a Successful Convention – a time for convention attendees to get tips on how to perfect their costumes.
• Special guests such as
  • Eric Vale – A Japanese anime voice actor, ADR Director,  and ADR Script Writer known for his work as the American voices of Trunks in Dragonball Z and America and Canada in Hetalia: Axis Powers.
  • Micah Solusod – A Japanese anime voice actor, ADR Director, and ADR Script Writer known for his work as the American voice of Soul Evans in Soul Eater.
  • Malinda and Kyle Mathis – Professional cosplayer based out of St. Louis who has won numerous awards for their amazing costumes.
  • Shane Moore – The St. Louis based author of the Abyss Walker series.  Shane will be releasing his book “Write Wrath” at EvilleCon 2012.
• A video game room sponsored by eBash Evansville with a plethora of different video game tournaments including Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 4, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, etc.
• Table top role playing games

Whether you come for the guests, for the events, to see people dressed up as anime characters, to play video games, or anything else, all are welcome at EvilleCon 2012.
