Learn how to put on a good fireworks show this Saturday

 

There will be a free firewor safety session at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center this Saturday, June 1 beginning at 7:00pm followed by a free fireworks display at dark.

Mark Hisle of Mark’s Fireworks, which is sponsoring the event says the  session will teach how to lay out backyard show that looks good—and is safe.

There will be contests with prizes throughout the evening and a fireworks demo will follow.

Have some family fun at Ivy Tech's Veteran Picnic

Ivy Tech Community College -Southwest is hosting a Veterans' Family Picnic on Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

The event will be held at Ivy Tech's Evansville campus, located at 3501 N. First Avenue. The event is free and open to all active service members, veterans, and their families.

The event theme is family fun. It will include hamburgers, hot dogs, fun family activities, great information from the American Legion, Tri-State Women's Veterans, the Vet Center, and more.

Oak Hill Cemetery tour offers glimpse into city's colorful past

Historic Preservation month continues in Evansville with a variety of walking tours of significant points of interest.  This Sunday, you can tour Oak Hill Cemetery and learn more about the city's history through the lives of those who've been laid to rest there.

The tour, guided by Dennis Au, departs from the Veteran's Memorial to the right of the main entrance at 2 p.m.

IU coaches coming to Jasper, Evansville

 

The IU Varsity Club has released the schedule for the annual, summer IU Athletics Tailgate Tour, presented by Smithville. The 2013 tour features seven stops; six head coaches; Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass; and sportscaster Don Fischer.

The tour will come to the Jasper Riverwalk May 30 from 6-8 p.m. Two days earlier on the 28th, the coaches will be at Oak Meadow Country Club for a noon gathering.

Church of the Harvest holding public dinner, auction to help Haiti

 

Church of the Harvest will hold its third annual Banquet/Silent Auction on May 4 at the Old County Court House.  

Dinner will be catered by Schmitt Catering in Newburgh.  There are auction items including four Colts tickets, spa packages, photography packages and more.   

Tickets are $30 and all proceeds go toward the church’s ongoing mission efforts in Haiti.

Flea market, antique show at 4-H Center this weekend

 

The Collectors Carnival Antiques & Collectibles Show  will be held at the Vanderburgh Co. 4-H Center with 100 dealers scheduled to set up.  Some booths will be inside 4-H Center enclosed buildings, while others will take up outside field spaces.  You'll find antiques and vintage collectibles from every era.

North High School's German Club will host its annual Spring Craft and Vendor Fair on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at North High School. More than 60 crafters and vendors will be in attendance. In addition to vendors, there also will be a silent auction.

Admittance is free and open to the public.
