Teachers combine for book to help kids be environmentally conscious

The Labrador named EVIE who teaches that Every Volunteer Is Essential in picking up litter and keeping our community clean is once again the star character in a second children’s book written by a Dexter Elementary School teacher.

EVIE Goes Clean and Green is written by Susan Harp and illustrated by North High School art teacher Jon Siau. The 24-page hardbound book was written to help children (and their parents) understand the importance of recycling and being as green as possible. With the help of her daddy, EVIE learns easy ways to make small changes in her everyday life that will have a big impact on the environment.

From Easter Seals

The elaborate displays at Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights in Evansville’s Garvin Park feature thousands of light bulbs of many colors.  However, one multi-colored scene in this Easter Seals fund-raising event can truly be called “green” due to its energy efficiency.  It’s the last exhibit visitors see as they drive through the mile-long route.  In fact, attendees actually drive under this display before exiting the park.  It’s the "Patriotic Arch" jointly sponsored by IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 16) and NECA (the Southern Indiana Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association).
