Woman arrested for pump and run

A 29-year-old Evansville woman was arrested after police say she admitted to filling her gas tank at the Chuckles store near U.S. 41 North and not paying.

A clerk at the store flagged an officer down a little before 8 Wednesday morning and he found Sarah Elizabeth Houston behind the wheel at Columbia and Linwood.

The officer said Houston told him she drove off without paying for the $48.50 worth of fuel because she was homeless, had no money and was on her way to do community service.

The officer followed Houston back to the gas station where she was identified by the clerk.  When she couldn't pay, she was arrested and her car towed.
