Jumped:  Woman says her attacker had small knife

A 22-year-old Evansville woman says she was jumped by another woman wielding a small knife early Thursday morning.

The woman told police she was walking in the area of Elliot and Missouri around 2 a.m. when the other woman walked up.  A fight started and the victim told police the woman pulled out a small knife and cut her several times in the stomach area.  Her injuries didn't require medical attention.

A detective spoke with the victim and crime scene investigators were called out.

Two Evansville  residents were arrested Monday night after a traffic accident led Evansville Police to marijuana and cash.

Police say a vehicle flipped over at Buena Vista and Fairfax, near Evansville Country Club, a little before 9.  The caller advised police that those inside may be hiding narcotics.

A K9 unit searched the area and found narcotics in the grass just up the hill from the vehicle.  "A couple thousand" in cash was also discovered during the investigation according to police.

A 22-year-old Evansville man says he was attacked and robbed by three men around 1:30 a.m. Monday while walking on the north side.

The man told police he was in the area of Elliott and Missouri Streets when three men jumped out from behind some bushes and started hitting him.  He says he fought back but went to the ground when the men began reaching in his pockets. 

He was able to get away and call police but not before being robbed of an undetermined amount of cash.

The Evansville Police Department will host its' first Crime Free Multi-Housing Phase 1 training for rental property owners, property managers, and maintenance workers on April 23. The training is voluntary and free to attend. The training will be held at the Vectren Building at 211 NW Riverside Dr. from 8:00am-4:00pm. Lunch will be provided. You must pre-register to attend.

The benefits of this training for owners and managers include higher demand for units, increased occupancy rates, attracting better quality tenants, reduced maintenance and repair cost, and increased property value.

Valentine's Day scratch-off thief strikes twice

Evansville Police were called to two separate convenience stores Thursday night after clerks reported the theft of lottery tickets.

The first incident took place about 9:20 at Chuckles on North Fares Avenue where the clerk stated a man wearing a black hat and black jacket stole two $20 "Lucky Millionaire" tickets.  The clerk confronted the suspect who denied the theft and then left on a moped.

Two Evansville men were arrested and Tuesday night when Evansville Police say they found a working meth lab near a school.

Officers say they executed a search warrant at 502 E. Virginia around 8:30.  They say they located five one-pot meth labs and three HCL gas generators inside a home occupied by 47-year-old Mark Pfettscher and 51-year-old Michael Denham.

Man tries to rob adult bookstore; admits to clerk he was "on coke"

A man who said he was high on cocaine tried to rob a downtown bookstore.  Evansville Police say the suspect entered Booksmart at 519 North Main Street around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and told the clerk he would "blow his head off".

Actually, police say, 'blow' may have led the man into the store, which is located next to the Lucky Lady.

A witness in the back of the shop heard the man demand money from the clerk and called police.

While trying to rob the store, the man told the clerk he was "****ed up on coke".
