Christmas on North Main Parade will expand
Christmas on North Main Parade will expand

This  year's Evansville’s Christmas on North Main Parade will be held on Sunday, November 24 beginning at 3:30 pm. The parade will begin in the Civic Center parking lot; proceed down Ninth Street to Main Street under the Lloyd Expressway and up North Main Street.  The route has a new look.  Parade officials have partnered this year with the Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights (to benefit Easter Seals) which will extend the parade route all the way up the North Main corridor into Garvin Park, past the fountain, and end at Heidelbach Avenue.

In addition to the parade, there will be a "Santa’s Workshop" at the corner of Columbia and Main. This year there will also be activities in Garvin Park in front of Bosse Field where the parade will end. These activities include choirs, music, vendors, and cookies and hot chocolate for a donation to Easter Seals.  Visitors will also enjoy a “preview” of Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights, as selected displays will be illuminated to provide a “sneak peek” of that Easter Seals fundraising event (which opens on Thanksgiving night).  Santa Claus will also make a special appearance at both “Santa’s Workshop” and Garvin Park.

The annual Christmas parade, an event sponsored by the Jacobsville Area Community Corporation, is estimated to have over 100 entries this year with the addition of some potential surprises. Parade applications have been revised and can be found at: www.northmainchristmasparade.com or their Facebook page at: Evansville’s Christmas on North Main.

The Evansville’s Christmas on North Main Parade is estimated to draw thousands of people to the North Main Street corridor area.  The Christmas parade includes local bands from area high schools as well as floats, clowns, cars, dignitaries, other marching and performing groups, and of course, Santa. The fee varies per entry. The deadline for applications is November 1. For more information, email Parade Coordinator, Bobbie Libbey, at bobbielibbey@gmail.com or Parade Director, Gail Knight Williams, at gailkw@evansville.net.
