Barbershop quartet to give free concert at Oaklyn Library

Visitors to the Oaklyn Branch of the Vanderburgh Public Library are in for a treat on Tuesday, December 20.  That's when the Soundproof Barbershop Quartet  will appear, singing a medley of Christmas songs and barbershop favorites. 

The award-winning group will start belting out the tunes at 6:30 pm at Oaklyn Branch, 3001 Oaklyn Dr., south of Lynch Road off Oak Hill Rd.

North High hosts big music event

North High hosts big music event

 

Music will fill the air at North High School on Saturday, Nov. 19, when the school hosts “Night of Memories.”  The event, which begins at 7 p.m., is open to the public and will feature six musical groups from North High School, including the Concert Band with alumni accompaniment, Concert Choir, Concert Orchestra, Jazz Combo, Green Brigade, and special selections of alumni vocal and instrumental ensembles.  Alumni of the school’s musical groups are invited to participate.

Central to perform fall play

Central High School will host two fall plays in the coming weeks. Students will perform A Few Good Men Thursday, Nov. 3, and Saturday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. Students also will perform Twelve Angry Women Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5.

North to host fall play

Performances for North High School's fall play, The Giver, will begin Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. Other performances include Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nob.

The wait to download eBooks for free from the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is over for Kindle users.  Amazon has announced that library customers are now able to download eBooks to their Amazon Kindle devices or Kindle apps on smartphones, tablets, and computers.
