Winter concert Tuesday night at North PAC

Members of the Scott Elementary School Choir will join with community organizations and community musicians for a winter concert Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. at North High School’s Performing Arts Center, located at 5331 Highway 41 N.  

The concert, which is open to the public, also will include the Evansville Children’s Choir; Tim Zifer from the University of Evansville who will be playing the trumpet; Craig Belwood and Mageleine Gish from North High School who will be singing; Jeff Thornton, eLearning Coach at Evans School, will be playing the piano; and Kim Fillingham, instrumental music teacher at Scott, will be playing the trombone.

USI Women's Choir fall concert is December 9

The University of Southern Indiana Women's Choir will present its Fall Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 9, at Old North United Methodist Church, 4201 Stringtown Road.

The concert will feature pieces by Z. Randall Stroope, Gustav Holst, and many others.

Brass band Christmas concert benefits United Caring Shelters

The Bend in the River Brass Band will perform a Christmas Concert on Friday, December 7th 7pm at Gethsemane Church, 1001 N. Main St. with proceeds to benefit the United Caring Shelters.

Advanced tickets are on sale now, online at UnitedCaringShelters.com or by phone 812-422-0297, the cost is $10 in advance and $15 the day of the show.

Immediately following the concert there will be a reception featuring a silent auction.

Elementary students fill munchkin roles in Central's Wizard of Oz

Central’s drama department will perform “The Wizard of Oz” November 8 – 10 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.

In addition to casting students from Central High School Central’s play also includes a cast of approximately 70 elementary students from Central feeder schools to play the role of Munchkins in the production.

Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students. Children 5 and under are free.

 

 

North High School to host “A Night On the Town” event

North High School to host “A Night On the Town” event

North High School has created an entire evening of events surrounding the opening night of its fall drama production – Thornton Wilder’s classic “Our Town.”  North’s event, “A Night On The Town” is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25, and will begin with a spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m., followed by a showcase of student work surrounding the theme “Our Town” at 5:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., the fall play begins.

North hosting marching band contest

Music will be heard all around Evansville this month as four EVSC schools host marching band invitational competitions.

North will host its first band competition at the new Bundrant Stadium on campus.  It will be a prelude to the Indiana State School Music Association’s (ISSMA) District competition and round out this fall’s marching band invitationals. 

Things get underway Saturday, September 22, beginning at 5 p.m. Admission is $5. It is the 31st competition the school has hosted.

Twenty area schools will participate for the Best in Class award.

Tales & Scales at 4-H Center Sunday

Dr. Ellen Harpole presents the Tales & Scales Flashback Tour 2012.  Join Tales & Scales as they revisit some of their favorite scenes from the past 25 years as they brainstorm ideas for next season's new show in a brand new musictale dedicated to their incredible history of igniting imaginations.

The show is coming to the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center Banquet Hall Sunday afternoon.
